WILLS POINT -- The Van Vandals held Wills Point to half its district scoring average.
However, the Vandals were unable to score a touchdown.
In a battle of unbeaten district foes, Wills Point defeated Van, 15-2, in a District 14-3A contest at a soggy Ken Autry Davis Stadium.
The Tigers (7-1, 3-0) took the opening kickoff and promptly marched 71 yards for a score when quarterback Trent Jurica found Brett Bradshaw in the end zone for a 5-yard toss to put the Tigers ahead 6-0 with 6:47 gone in the first quarter.
The Vandal defense burst through to block the extra point and Cody Daniels raced to the Tiger end zone to cut the deficit to 6-2.
After Wills Point forced a three-and-out, The Tigers went back to work and drove into the Van red zone before the Vandals stepped up again and blocked a field goal attempt.
The two teams traded possessions and Van took over at its own 36-yard line and J.K. Wilson, who had nine tackles on the evening, recovered a Vandal fumble to set the Tigers up with good field position.
Wills Point ran two plays that netted four yards and then Jurica found Steven Cunigan opened down the left side for a touchdown to put the Tigers up 12-2 with 5:18 left before halftime. The two point conversion failed.
The Vandal defense, which allowed 152 yards in the first half, shut down the potent Tiger offense, which came into the game averaging 31 points a game in district, to just 47 yards in the second half and one 30-yard field goal by Evann Padilla.
Wills Point's defense forced six Vandal turnovers.
The Vandals moved the ball in the second half, but was unable to score. The Vandals went to a power set and Michael Terry finished with 62 yards rushing.
Clay Deen intercepted two passes and Padilla and linebacker Will Girdley had one apiece for the Tigers.
The Van (5-3, 2-1) defense was swarming to the ball in the second half and was led by Jacoby Alexander with seven tackles and a sack. Corey Fuller and Dalton Santos each registered 5 1/2 tackles on the evening.
