Former Teacher Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charge
A former Palestine ISD substitute teacher pleaded guilty Friday in federal court to a child pornography charge.
Robert Carl Sampson, 66, Grapeland, will be sentenced later on a charge of possessing material involving the sexual exploitation of minors, said information from the court information officer.
Authorities were alerted after Sampson, while serving as a substitute teacher in February 2008, gave a fellow teacher materials that included discs that contained child pornography, according to information presented before U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith Guthrie in Tyler,
Sampson faces up to 10 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
This case is being prosecuted as part of a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, the announcement said.
This case is being investigated by the FBI and Palestine Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin.
