Rain Or Shine, Rose Festival Queen's Tea Will Go On
By MAEGAN McGOWEN Staff Writer Rain or shine, the public is invited to meet Rose Queen Emily Anne Austin and her court in their full coronation costumes during The Queen's Tea, to be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Tyler Rose Garden, 420 Rose Park Drive, Tyler.

"Regardless of what happens on Thursday, the Tea is happening," Rose Festival Association Executive Director Julie Ischy said. "It may happen outside or in the building. If it is inside, it will be next to the Rose Room in the Camellia or Bluebonnet Room."

According to weather reports, there is a 20 to 40 percent chance of rain Thursday, she said.

"We will announce Thursday at the Ribbon Cutting where we will hold the Queen's Tea," she said. "It's no big deal to move it inside; we have plenty of space."

As for Parade Day, Ms. Ischy's prediction is sunshine.

"We're going to do everything we can to get the girls out there," she said, "even if we have to wrap them in plastic."
