A three-vehicle accident on Texas Highway 155 sent six people, including a child, to the hospital around 5 p.m. Saturday. The alleged reckless behavior of the driver of a maroon, late model Cadillac spanned about two miles, ending directly in front of the Noonday Fire Department.
Department of Public Safety officials said it began at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 344 and Texas 155, when the driver of the Cadillac ran a red light, side-swiped a vehicle and nearly causing an accident. Officials said he fled the scene and continued northbound, where he then rear ended the driver of a Monte Carlo, sending that vehicle into a ditch. The driver of the Cadillac veered, lost control and hit an Impala almost head-on, despite evasive action by the driver, who was traveling southbound.
State troopers Skidmore and Hodge take notes on a smashed car involved in a three-vehicle accident Saturday in Flint.
Five people were transported by ambulance and one person was airlifted to a local hospital. Three were riding in the Cadillac, including a passenger who was pinned in for several minutes, officials said. One person was in the Impala and two were riding in the Monte Carlo.
DPS Cpl. Jonathan Peters, lead investigator at the scene, said alcohol may have been a factor in the accident. He said there were open containers and alcoholic beverages on ice in the trunk. Charges have not yet been filed.
