Whitehouse's Metoyer, Kilgore's Austin Top 14-4A Preseason Team

KILGORE -- Whitehouse junior receiver Trey Metoyer has been named the Offensive Player of the Year on the District 14-4A Preseason Football Team.

KILGORE -- Whitehouse junior receiver Trey Metoyer has been named the Offensive Player of the Year on the District 14-4A Preseason Football Team.
Metoyer is one of three Wildcats receivers on the team, which was voted on by the league's media. The others are senior Skip Caldwell and junior Logan Newton.
Metoyer, Caldwell and Newton have helped Whitehouse become one of the area's top passing attacks. Metoyer finished the 2008 season with 72 receptions for 1,105 yards and 14 touchdowns, Caldwell caught 32 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns, and Newton posted 28 receptions for 447 yards and five scores.
Whitehouse junior defensive lineman Danny Laastad and junior defensive back Quincy Aldridge were also selected.
Lindale senior quarterback Matt Broussard (athlete) and senior linebacker Jacob Merriman also represent Smith County.
Kilgore senior linebacker Mishaud Austin is the Defensive Player of the Year.
