Junior League of Tyler To Spotlight Agencies
The Junior League of Tyler Inc. will spotlight its partner agencies during the upcoming Mistletoe & Magic holiday shopping event by displaying the painted handprints of agency representatives, JLT spokesperson Zoe Kerr said.
The handprinting process took place Monday and Tuesday at the JLT office. Agency representatives were joined by JLT volunteers as they made their marks on a backdrop which will be used during Mistletoe & Magic, "A Toast to Tinsel Town."
"Their painted handprints will be accompanied by agency logos. Event organizers hope to evoke the glamour and excitement of a Hollywood movie premier. As guests arrive, they may have their photos taken in front of the backdrop in true Hollywood style, and the agencies will take center stage in every shot," Ms. Kerr said.
All of the funds raised by the JLT are funneled back into the community through its 27 partner agencies, she said.
"Agencies are chosen through the Junior League's Community Coordinating process. Ultimately, it is the partner agency that puts the League's funding and volunteers to work, and the JLT wishes to recognize these agencies and their representatives for their substantial contributions to the community," Ms. Kerr said.
Event organizers hope to bring attention to the partner agencies during Mistletoe & Magic.
"We wish to shine the spotlight on our partner agencies, because it is with their help and hard work that the JLT is able to affect so many lives for good," said Amy Lively, 2009 Mistletoe & Magic chairman.
The annual holiday shopping event, featuring 90-plus vendors from across the United States, will be held Nov. 12-14 at Harvey Convention Center, Tyler.
Proceeds from the event benefit the projects and placements of the JLT.
The JLT is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable, Ms. Kerr said.
