From Staff Reports
Halliburton Energy Services will launch a $51 million expansion project in Longview, the Longview Economic Development Corp. announced in a news release Wednesday.
Halliburton Energy Services will launch a $51 million expansion project in Longview, the Longview Economic Development Corp. announced in a news release Wednesday.
The project will create a regional Halliburton hub, located in the East Industrial Park in a building that Axelson and Dresser Industries once used, the release states.
Halliburton has owned the vacant building, which is more than 100,000 square feet, for 11 years.
"Our region is known for its tremendous energy resources, and Halliburton's continued investment reflects their confidence in our region's future," Bob Metzler, Longview EDC president, said in a prepared statement.
The Longview EDC provided a $1.2 million grant for the expansion. Halliburton will receive $600,000 grant on completion of $3 million in renovations to the building and property on Industrial Drive by year's end.
The company will begin with 45 employees in its first year of operation, increasing by 10 workers each year over six years, reaching 95 in the sixth year, the news release states.
Longview Mayor Jay Dean noted in a news release that the expansion will fortify the city's position as an energy center.
"Our energy sector can help make our nation's energy secure, and as prices increase for natural gas, we expect there to be major demand for energy services as those being provided by Halliburton," Dean said. "They have been a major part of our energy sector for years, and we appreciate them choosing Longview as their hub of operation for this region."
