ALTO -- A former Alto ISD employee has been indicted on two counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student, a second-degree felony.
Cherokee County Assistant District Attorney Rachel Patton would not give specific details about the case.
However, she said the DA's office evidence, in addition to the 18-year-old victim's testimony, that led to the indictment.
Former physical education teacher and coach Paul Dixon resigned back in March amidst allegations of an improper relationship between an educator and a high school student.
Alto ISD Superintendent Dr. Ray DeSpain told the
Tyler Morning Telegraph in March that Dixon had been with the district 10 years.
Dixon's father, John Paul Dixon, worked as a coach in the district at the time and was placed on administrative leave following alleged interference with a witness, Alto's Chief of Police Charles Barron previously said.
Patton said charges for John Paul Dixon are still pending review by a grand jury.
