American State Bank Opens Office In Tyler

American State Bank has opened at 5825 Old Bullard Road, Suite 100, in The Shops on Old Bullard Center.

Currently a loan production office, it will become a full-service branch this spring and remain open until completion of an ASB facility under construction at Old Jacksonville Highway at Rice Road next year.

Tom W. Stewart will serve as vice President and lending officer. Stewart is a 33-year career banker in Tyler.

Stewart is a director of Children's Village and Tyler Retail Merchants Association. He has served in several community service organizations and on the Administrative Council of Marvin United Methodist Church.

American State Bank, formerly Arp State Bank, has branches in Arp, Texarkana, New Chapel Hill and Tyler.

ETMC Names Director Of Transplant Center

ETMC named Dr. Steven Potter as program director of the ETMC Transplant Center. He has served as surgical director of kidney transplantation at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.

Dr. Potter completed his residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and transplant surgery fellowships at the University of Cincinnati and University of Minnesota. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified in urology.

ETHRA To Present Symposium In Tyler

East Texas Human Resources Association will present its Fourth Annual Symposium on April 9 in the Galilee Banquet Room of Green Acres Baptist Church, Tyler.

The theme is "Protecting the Interest of Employers in a Time of Change." Speakers will include U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert.

Providence Park Sets Blood Drive March 30

Providence Park of Tyler, 5505 New Copeland Road, will sponsor a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on March 30 in conjunction with Carter BloodCare.

UT Tyler Fills Position Of Student Specialist

The University of Texas at Tyler has hired Laura Jackson as a student development specialist. She will oversee student and family programs, Jackson has worked as a campaign manager for state Sen. Robert Nichols and state Rep. Mark Shelton. She served the Texas Forest Service as a Forest Legacy Program aid.

Computer Solutions Adds Vice President

Kilgore software and applications firm Business Computer Solutions has named
Eric Graves vice president of business development. The move is part of BCS growth into information technology outsourcing.

Graves has more than 14 years of experience in business development, product strategy, and market analysis.

BSC also announced that it has entered an agreement to manage the city of Kilgore's information technology infrastructure.

Suddenlink Honors Nix For Customer Service

Suddenlink Communications has presented Tyler employee Joshua Nix, a call center trainer, its Customer Service Hero Award.

Nix was one of 13 out of 4,900-plus employees nationwide, to receive the award.

Attorney Head Speaks At Criminal Trial College

Athens Lawyer Mike Head led a session this month during the Annual Texas Criminal Trial College in Huntsville presented by the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

Head is a faculty member of TCDLA, He spoke on representing defendants.
