Music School Honors Students
Psalmist School of Music, Tyler, recently named its outstanding musicians for 2008 in a special awards ceremony held in conjunction with its recent Winter Youth Recital. 

Named Outstanding Young Female Musician for 2008 was Alexandria Turner of Lindale. The 14-year-old Freshman at Lindale High School is the daughter of Michelle Redfern, and Charles Turner of Tyler.

She is a vocal student of Rebecca Baker’s, and in addition to playing French horn in the high school band, performs regularly at the Opry in Gladewater.

Outstanding Young Male Musician for 2008 is 13-year-old Daniel Armstrong of Bullard. He is the son of David Armstrong and Dijona Armstrong of Bullard, and an eighth-grade student at Bullard Middle School. In addition to his piano studies with Ms. Baker, he plays trombone in the middle school band.

Also receiving awards that evening were: Instrumental Excellence Award: Diana Pemberton of Tyler and Rebekah Wolven of Lindale; Vocal Excellence Award: Meagan Orr of Palestine; Most Improved Instrumentalists: Kevin Miller and Ethan Rhodes, both of Tyler; and Most Industrious Students: Jocelyn Hodges of Chandler and Christa Russell of Palestine.
