Texas State Railroad Offering Discount Rate
PALESTINE -- The Texas State Railroad is offering a discounted local appreciation fare of $10 for regular train excursions during January and February to residents of Anderson, Cherokee, Henderson, Houston, Nacogdo-ches, Rusk and Smith counties.
The train departs during January on Saturdays from the Rusk depot and departs during February on Saturdays from the Palestine depot.
"Local appreciation rides offer a chance for residents in our surrounding counties to ride the train at a discounted price; this is something we started last year and we want to continue it every year," Lori Pennington, marketing manager, said.
Excursions depart at 11 a.m. and return at 3:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the reservation line at 1-888-987-2461. Box lunches are available for purchase at the time of reservation.
