Transitional Living Program Receives 4-Year Grant
Baptist Child & Family Services' Preparation for Adult Living program was recently awarded a four-year contract through the Department of Family and Protective Services to expand its transitional living training program to East Texas.
The new territory will serve more than 200 young adults in Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Palestine, Texark-ana, Beaumont, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Crocket and Jasper.
The PAL training program provides education on healthcare, housing, the job market, education and finances to youth between the ages of 16 and 21 in foster care to better prepare them for life on their own.
BCFS's PAL program was the first rural transition program for youth aging out of the foster care system in Texas.
