TxDOT Projects Mean Daytime Lane Closures
Texas Department of Transportation officials announced projects for the Tyler district, which includes Smith, Cherokee, Anderson and Hen-derson counties.

In Smith County, TxDOT maintenance crews are scheduled to conclude edge repairs this week along Spur 364 between South-Southwest Loop 323 in Tyler and Texas Highway 31, west of Tyler. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers in two-lane areas, officials said.

Also in Smith County, crews will begin edge repairs beginning Wednesday on Farm-to-Market 344 between Texas 110, south of Whitehouse and FM 756, east of Bullard.

Crews are also scheduled to perform edge and base repairs throughout the week on Texas 279, just south of Texas 64, west of Tyler.

Beginning Monday, contract crews will start several weeks of work on bridge and guard rail replacements along U.S. Highway 79 in Anderson County.

The work will be performed consecutively at the bridges over Lumpkins Creek and Smith Branch.

Work will continue later in Smith County along Texas Highway 110 between Troup and Whitehouse.

If weather permits, TxDOT will resurface Farm-to-Market Road 317, east of Athens.

The resurfacing effort will take place over the coming weeks in various locations between FM 1803, east of Athens, and FM 314, south of Brownsboro. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress. Motorists should seek alternate routes if possible to avoid delays.

In Cherokee County, TxDOT will perform profiling operations for at various locations along U.S. 69 between Jacksonville and Rusk, including the Seven-Mile Hill area, and on Texas 21 in and around Alto.

Profiling includes scarring the pavement surface to improve tire traction.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect at all areas, while the work is in progress. Motorists should be prepared to seek alternate routes or reduce speed and merge in and around the work zone.
