2 Injured In Shooting After New Year Celebration
Two people were injured around 2 a.m. Thursday after a suspect fired one round of shots through a residence following a dispute over the use of fireworks in the 600 block of S. Porter Ave.

According to Tyler police, the suspect lived nearby in the 700 block of S. Porter Ave. and confronted the victims outside about not displaying fireworks.

He later returned with a shotgun and fired one round into the door of the home, where the victims were. Fragments from the door struck the two individuals inside the residence in the legs. The victims were transported to East Texas Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, a police report said.

The suspect was arrested and is being charged with aggravated assault. Police say the case is still under investigation.
