Campus Notepad
Caldwell Elementary School
Caldwell Elementary School will have a "Merry Fitness and a Healthy New Year!" event from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Caldwell Gymnasium.
Students will perform dances to "Suzie Snowflake," "Frosty," "Christmas Hokey Pokey," "Ring around the Christmas Tree," "Rudolf," "Rock and Roll Christmas," and "Living the American Dream." Every student at Caldwell will perform. Christmas carols will also be performed.
Clarkston Elementary School
Clarkston Elementary School will have a Scholastic Book Fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the library.
Clarkston will also have a "Diamonds in the Rough Writers" event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria.
Student authors will read their published stories to parents and invited guests. The project, "Diamonds in the Rough Writers," was funded by a grant from the Tyler ISD Foundation. Student books will be on sale in the Clarkston library with proceeds to benefit the Literacy Council of Tyler.
Griffin Elementary School
Griffin Elementary School students are in the last stages of a "Don't Throw It, Reuse It" project funded by the Tyler ISD Foundation.�
During this project, students learned the importance of taking care of the environment in an entertaining and educational way through recycling.
Crafts created from recycled items will be for sale in the Recycle Art Market from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday in the courtyard at Griffin.
Hogg Middle School
Hogg Middle School will have a PTA meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium.
Jack Elementary School
Jack Elementary School's Patriot Voices and The Young Patriots will perform a sing-a-long from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Jack cafï¿©. Third, fourth- and fifth-grade students will perform.
Jack students will also sign books that they wrote and that have been published from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Barnes & Noble bookstore.
John Tyler High School
John Tyler High School will have a concert featuring the wind ensemble, mariachi band and symphonic band at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the John Tyler Band Hall. A reception will follow the concert.
John Tyler will have a concert with the high school orchestra and middle school students at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the band hall.
Robert E. Lee High School
Robert E. Lee High School will offer a performance of "It's a Wonderful Life" at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fine Arts Center.
Adult tickets are $8; students and seniors tickets are $5. Tickets will be sold at the door. For more information or group reservations, call 903-262-2681.
Lee's Orchestra Concert, featuring freshmen through senior orchestra students will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Fine Arts Center. A reception will follow the concert.
Performance
The Young Audiences performance from Tin Roof Tango of "Big Acoustic World Show" will take place Wednesday at these times and schools:
Bishop T.K. Gorman Catholic School
The Bishop T.K. Gorman Catholic School Advent Lighting Mass is at 6 p.m. Sunday in the outdoor chapel behind the Milam Joseph Center. Msgr. Strickland will celebrate mass followed by Christmas carols, hot chocolate, cookies and Christmas music provided by the Crusader choir and band.
The Gorman track parent meeting is at 6 p.m. Monday in the school cafeteria.
Auditions for the middle school one act play are at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room 110.
Gorman will have a special schedule for exams with early dismissal at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Extended care, including lunch, is available Wednesday and Thursday until 5:30 p.m.
The final mass of the semester is at 9:45 a.m. Friday in the St. Paul Chapel. There will be no mass Wednesday.
Stepping Stone
Stepping Stone/C. Brown Middle School students will deliver the Toys for Tots their classrooms collected on Monday.
Stepping Stone pre-k classes will have their Christmas party at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Stepping Stone kindergarten classes will go to Park Place at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Stepping Stone pre-k classes will perform their "Super Celebration" from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the school gym.
Friday will be a free dress day. First- and second-grade Christmas parties will be at 10 a.m. Friday. Fourth-graders will have their Christmas party from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Friday.
