John Robert Red Murff
Graveside services for John Robert “Red” Murff, 87, Tyler, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rockdale, with Dr. Stuart Baskin officiating.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Tyler. Arrangements under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler.

Mr. Murff died Nov. 28, 2008, in a Tyler nursing home.
He was born April 1, 1921, in Burlington to the late Ellison and Ollie Bell Murff. He was a professional baseball player and baseball scout, and found many talented players in high school. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tyler, Kiwanis and Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Jo Murff, Tyler; daughters and stepdaughter, Carol White, Florida, Pat Monroe, Texas City, Melinda Phillips, Houston, Robin Hartzler, Georgia, and Betsy Evans, Dallas; stepson, Scott Evans, Georgia; brother, Edward Murff, Waco; sisters, Salome Vickers, Bryan, Lee Johnson, California, and Katherine Davis, Houston; grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
