10-Vehicle Wreck Clogs Traffic On Interstate 20
A Thanksgiving Day wreck stalled traffic along Interstate 20 for miles early Thursday morning.

The 10-vehicle wreck happened around 6 a.m. near mile marker 548 and the Highway 110 overpass.

According to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety, an 18-wheeler rolled over on Highway 110 and struck the bridge prompting a second 18-wheeler to crash into the first.

Troopers said a series of other wrecks followed and the 18-wheeler, which was transporting pharmaceuticals, caught fire. Emergency crews were forced to shut down the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 while workers cleared the wreckage and inspected the bridge for damage.

Smith County Precinct 5 Deputy Constable Mark Waters said one man was transported to the hospital for what appeared to be minor injuries.

The area reopened to traffic shortly after 10 a.m. except for the westbound lane, which reopened around noon.

Drivers enroute to Dallas were asked to take State Highway 64 to Canton around the accident.
