Tyler Police are investigating more than 20 reports of car windshields being damaged overnight.

Just after midnight today, officers were dispatched to 709 E. Hillsboro, where the caller stated that someone had shot a window out of his vehicle with a B-B gun. The caller was able to give a description of the suspect vehicle as being a blue Mercury Mountaineer with a Texas License Plate of 534-FHV, according to a Tyler Police news release. While the officers were at this call, other calls started coming into the Tyler Police Call Center in which other callers also stated that their vehicles had been shot with a B-B gun.

While officers were taking the initial calls, approximately 20 more victims called and reported the same type of damage, police said. During the investigation, officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle and obtain a suspect's name in this case.

Police set up surveillance on the suspect vehicle and after a short time, the vehicle left. Police stopped the vehicle, driven by a male juvenile, at the intersection of Front and Palmer. During the investigation, police placed the male juvenile under arrest for criminal mischief and also learned that there were others involved.

During the crime spree, $4,000 worth of damage was reported and more calls were being taken for other criminal mischief incidents that could also be related, police said.
