Banking Conference Set Today At LeTourneau University
LONGVIEW -- LeTourneau University will hold a conference today examining credit and banking troubles.
The keynote speaker will be Terry Smith, president of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, the university announced.
Speakers will discuss the issue in terms of its impact on East Texas and those with retirement accounts, Juan Castro, LETU economics professor and conference organizer, said.
It will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Room 120 of the Education Building, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave. Cost is $50 and includes lunch. Student admission is $30.
A roundtable of speakers will include bankers Charles Ireland, market president of Chase Bank; Kelly Stretcher, president of First National Bank of Gilmer; Mike Fitzhugh, market president of Franklin Bank; Brad Tidwell, president and CEO of Citizens National Bank; and Steve Reese, president of Community Bank of Longview.
