Celtic Switchback Plays Cowan Thursday
The Cowan Center continues its "Intimate Gatherings" series Thursday with Celtic group "Switchback."
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $51, $46, $41, $36 and $21 at the UT Tyler Cowan Center box office, online at www.cowancenter.org or by calling 903-566-7424. Sponsors are Louis and Peaches Owen.
For over two decades, the musical partnership of Brian FitzGerald and Martin McCormack, better known as "Switchback" has been entertaining audiences around the world with their "unique American roots music blended with Celtic soul," according to cowancenter.org.
Their first album, "Ain't Goin' Back" released in 1994, was a huge commercial success highlighted by Chevrolet selecting one of their songs to promote the Chevy Blazer.
The duo's music eventually reached the ear of Grammy-winning producer Lloyd Maines, who has produced several albums with the duo.
In 2003, "The Fire That Burns" was selected as one of Performing Songwriter Magazine's top albums of the year.
Playing over 200 engagements a year, "Switchback" can be heard at festivals ranging from the Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Nova Scotia to the Summer Celebration in Michigan before an audience of more than 15,000.
