Barrel Race in Gladewater This Weekend
GLADEWATER -- The third annual Deb Mohon Memorial Barrel Race will be this weekend at the Gladewater Round-Up Rodeo Arena in memory of the 11-time national finals rodeo contestant.
Exhibitions will be 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The competition will begin at noon. There is no admission charge for spectators.
This year's event is co-approved by the Women's Professional Rodeo Association.
The Open 4D format adds $5,000 with an equal payback. HY O Silver buckles will be awarded to each division winner. A $400 added Youth 4D will be included in this year's event. Contestants' Open 4D time will roll over to the Youth Division.
There will be a commemorative gift for the first 250 contestants who enter. PRCA member Todd Rangel Halters will go to the Open 4D "first hole out" winners and a pair of Tony Lama boots will go to the hard luck contestant posting the fastest "no time."
Commemorative T-shirts and caps will be available, several venders will be on hand and the concession stand will be provided by the Gladewater Round-Up.
