An alleged Longview gang member has pleaded guilty in a Tyler federal court to drug and gun charges.

Dajamuel "Jamie" or "Red" Dione Floyd, 30, a reported member of the 12th Street Crips gang, pleaded guilty Wednesday to possessing with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and using a firearm during a drug-trafficking crime, according to a prepared statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office released Thursday.

In U.S. Magistrate Judge John Love's court, Floyd admitted to selling crack in the Long-view area since January 2006. He faces a sentence of up to 40 years in prison for the drug count and five years for the drug charge.

Floyd was charged with 28 others in an 87-count indictment. On May 28, federal and state authorities began a roundup of the defendants in Gregg County.

The indictment alleges that from Jan. 6, 2006, the defendants involved in two street gangs conspired to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of crack cocaine. The indictment also alleges drug distribution, weapons charges and violent gang activities across the nation and in Mexico.
