Robert E. Lee Lady Raiders Fall To Horn
MESQUITE -- Robert E. Lee saw its winning streak snapped Tuesday while suffering its first District 11-5A volleyball loss against Mesquite Horn.

But it didn't occur without controversy.

The Lady Raiders were stopped by the Lady Jaguars 3-1 at John Horn High School.

Horn won 12-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23.

The victory puts Horn (13-15, 4-0) into sole possession of first place in District 11-5A, while REL (26-4, 3-1) drops into a tie for second.

REL head coach Melissa Lee said her team played well enough to win the match, but were dealing with things out of their control.

"You hate to blame the game on officiating, but it affected the game," said Lee, who added the Lady Raiders were forced to replay at least six points, all of which were originally awarded to REL.

Senior Sarah Sivertson paced the Lady Raiders in the loss with 16 kills, three blocks and 16 assists. Senior setter Beth Felix finished with 22 assists, Sydney Lindsay had 10 kills and 15 digs and Eva Story totaled 20 digs and six service aces.

The Lee freshmen volleyball teams split matches. Lee White defeated Horn White 21-25, 25-17, 25-16. Lee Red fell to Horn White, 25-20, 25-19.
