UPDATE: Tyler Police Investigating 3 Convenience Store Robberies in 2 Days
For the third time in two days, a Tyler convenience store was robbed early today.

The clerk at the Food Fast store at 1707 E. Front St. told Tyler Police she was in the back of the store when a black male entered the store at approximately 1:40 a.m. today and approached her. The suspect was approximately 5 feet 9, had a green t-shirt wrapped around his head and a white cloth wrapped around his face. He also had a white towel wrapped around his hand.

The suspect ordered the clerk to the front of the store and had her open the register. He removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and left the store on foot. No weapon was displayed, and there were no injuries, according to Tyler police. There is no additional information at this time and the case remains under investigation.

A man who police say used plastic bags to disguise his hands and face during two early Sunday morning convenience store robberies is being sought by police.

Tyler Police Department officers were called to the Food Fast Convenience store located in the 4700 block of Troup Highway at 3:48 a.m. after the report of an armed robbery.

The store clerk told police that the robber, described as a black male between 5-10 and 6 feet tall, weighing about 150 pounds, had a plastic bag over his head and was holding another baggy in his hands giving the appearance of concealing a firearm.

"The suspect was given a small amount of cash and then fled the business on foot," the police report stated.

Later that morning police said a man entered the Speedy Food Mart located in the 2700 block of East 5th Street.

Witnesses reported that the suspect entered the convenience store shortly after 7 a.m. and had a plastic bag over his head and another plastic bag over his hand to hide what appeared to be a weapon, the report stated.

Police said no one was injured during the robbery and that the suspect took an undetermined about of money and left the business walking southbound toward the McDonald's restaurant on East 5th Street.

In this robbery, the suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crime Stoppers, at 903-597-CUFF. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
