Lady in Waiting: Desiree Nicole Smith
Desiree Nicole Smith, daughter of Michael P. and Dominique Smith of Tyler, is a sophomore at The University of Texas at Tyler, where she is majoring in business marketing and is on the President's List. Miss Smith graduated from T.K. Gorman High School in Tyler, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Who's Who Among American High School Students. She participated in cross country, track and Spanish Club and received numerous academic awards. She was on the Principal's Honor Roll all four years. During her senior year, Miss Smith was an ambassador, vice president of the National Honor Society and homecoming princess. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Little Wranglers of the American Cancer Society.
Miss Smith is a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she has served as an acolyte and a volunteer for the Church Choir School of East Texas. She has served in previous Rose Festivals as a junior hostess during the Queen's Tea.
Tyler area relatives include grandparents, George and Jerrie Cronin; brother, Wyatt Tomlin Smith; aunts, Theresa Arnold, Maxine Cronin, Phyllis Ford and Meghan Cronin; and uncle, Joseph Cronin.
