Rose Festival Duchesses

Duchess Virginia Lane Wylie
MISS VIRGINIA LANE WYLIE, daughter of Mrs. Caroline King Wylie of Tyler and Mr. Scot Lane Wylie of Lubbock. She is a sophomore at Ole Miss where she is majoring in Art History and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Miss Wylie is a graduate of Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas. She was a member of the Coronado Golf team her sophomore, junior and senior year. She was a Symphony Deb all three years in High School and was presented at the Lubbock Symphony Ball in 2007. Miss Wylie was also presented at the 2007 Lubbock Assembly Club and the 2007 Waco Cotton Palace.

Miss Wylie has a lengthy history with the Texas Rose Festival. Her mother, Caroline King Wylie was a lady-in-waiting in 1975. Her sister, Mary Caroline Wylie was a duchess in 2004.

Other family members who have participated in the Rose Festival include: grandfather, the late Jack M. King Sr., 1970 president of the Order of the Rose; grandmother, Mrs. Jack M. King Sr., 1959 Queen's Ball chairman and Queen's Tea chairman in 1975 and 1982; uncle, Jack M. King Jr., 2006 president of the Texas Rose Festival Association; aunt, Elizabeth King Chilton, 1979 lady-in-waiting; great aunt, Jill King Ramey, 1950 rose queen; great uncle, the Honorable Tom B. Ramey Jr., 1959 president of the Order of the Rose and 1969 president of the Texas Rose Festival Association; great-great uncle, Judge Tom B. Ramey Sr., president of the Texas Rose Festival Association in 1933 and 1934.

Cousins of Miss Wylie who have served in the festival are Jack Martin King IIII, 2000 escort; Frances Duncan King, 2000 duchess; Katherine Noel King, 2005 rose queen; Jacquelyn King, 2006 scepter bearer; Claire Chilton, 2001 queen's attendant; Claire Turner Ramey, 1979 rose queen; Tom B. Ramey III, 1972 escort, 2003 president of the Order of the Rose, and 2008 Texas Rose Festival Association Vice President; Henry King Ramey, 1974 escort and 2000 president of the Order of the Rose; Grace Hartley Ramey, 1993 queen's attendant and 2007 rose queen, and Archer Ramey; 1999 trainbearer.
