Tyler CAP Helps Assess Hurricane Ike Damage
Members of the Civil Air Patrol in Tyler helped assess the damage from Hurricane Ike, said information from the squadron.

CAP units were deployed soon after the hurricane to use aerial photography to document damage, guide efforts of responders and monitor cleanup progress.

Lt. Col. Louis Thomas, Maj. Christopher Harcrow and 1st Lt. Paul Paulsen worked on a team that facilitated communication and Lt. Col. Dennis Bennett and Capt. Bruce Folks worked on a photography crew.

Photos taken by CAP will be used to help better understand hurricanes and predict storm surge, the squadron said.
