Newcomers Club of Tyler will welcome Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass to Friday's meeting at the First Christian Church New Life Center, 4202 S. Broadway Ave., Tyler, Newcomers spokesperson Barbara Bass said.

Lunch is $10 and will be served at 11:45 a.m., followed by the program. Reservations are required, and the deadline is at noon Wednesday. For reservations, call Judy Bayless at 903-533-8773.

Mayor Bass will speak on her vision for Tyler. She grew up in East Texas and has lived in Tyler for 31 years. She has been involved in the community in such roles as chairman of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, the Tyler Economic Development Council, and the Better Business Bureau of Central East Texas. She was also Foundation Board chairman of Hospice of East Texas, Ms. Jones said.

The Newcomers Club invites new residents of Tyler (within the past two years) to join them for this informative program. Activities begin at 9 a.m. with social and games followed by luncheon and program, Ms. Jones said.
