Academy Sports + Outdoors to Open Tyler Store Friday
Academy Sports + Outdoors will hold ceremonies at 9 a.m. on Friday to open its store at 8668 S. Broadway Ave.
Company founder Arthur Gochman will be joined by Dr. Mark Greenberg, his longtime friend, and Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman Robert Hancock during the event marking the retailer’s 108th store.
“We at Academy Sports + Outdoors are very excited about opening our newest store here in Tyler,” said, Carl Main, Academy’s vice president of marketing and advertising in a prepared statement. “As a company founded and head-quartered in Texas, we know that this part of the state has a lot of sports fans, outdoor enthusiasts and families who will enjoy the new store, and we invite everyone to come celebrate with us on Friday, Oct. 3.”
The event will include refreshments, music and the chance to win store gift cards.
Academy Sports + Outdoors was founded in 1938 and is headquartered in Katy. It currently has 107 stores in 11 states offering a broad selection of equipment, apparel and footwear.
