Christian Academy Providing Limited Supply Of 50-Cent Gas Saturday
A limited supply of gas will be sold for 50 cents a gallon at the Phillips 66 station at ESE Loop 323 and Spur 248 Saturday morning as a promotion by East Texas Christian Academy.
Scott Fossey, the Tyler private Christian school's president, said it is a way for ETCA to "give back to the community and show God's love in a practical way."
The reduced-price gas will go on sale at 7:30 a.m. and will be offered until 2,000 gallons are sold.
It is requested that people not fill buses, RV vehicles or gas cans. Only cash and credit cards will be accepted as payment, organizers said.
Tyler Beverages and Super 1 Foods will provide customers with soft drinks and bottled water.
"Our annual school theme this year is believe," Fossey said. "By giving everyone some relief from the high gas prices this is an excellent way to show our belief in them; at the same time, it gives us the opportunity to simply say thank you."
