UT Tyler English Faculty Offers Travel Study Course to France
Dr. Ann Beebe, associate professor of English at The University of Texas at Tyler, will conduct a travel course to Paris where students will study the city’s influence on various well-known American writers’ works.
The course titled “Ex-Pat American Writers: 1918 – 1929,” is open to all UT Tyler students and may be counted as three undergraduate- or graduate-level semester credit hours. Students will travel to Paris, France May 11 – 25, 2009 and visit museums, parks, cafés and neighborhoods during several walking tours.
“Some of the authors to be studied include Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Langston Hughes, E. E. Cummings and Gertrude Stein,” Beebe said. “As part of the class each day while we are there, students will give presentations, participate in literature discussions and keep journals during their travels. A course paper will be due in August.”
The first of several informational meetings is 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12 in the UT Tyler Robert Muntz Library room 422.
A minimum of 10 students is needed for this course. Sign-up deadlines and travel prices are pending.
