Behm Helps Texas To Cross Country Win
SAN MARCOS — Mia Behm, a freshman from T.K. Gorman, helped Texas win its first cross country meet of the year by claiming the Texas State Invitational.

Behm finished seventh overall with a time of 18 minutes and 16.6 seconds.

Texas, under the direction of assistant coach Stephen Sisson, tallied 23 points to success-fully defend its title at the annual race for the third consecutive season. UT San Antonio brought in 43 points for second followed by host Texas State with 100 points.

The Horns were led by senior Larkin Geyer who finished in 17:47 for a second-place effort. The Austin native clocked in just 15 seconds after UTSA's Dana Mecke, who ran at a 5:50 pace to finish in 17:30.5.

UT freshman Laleh Mojtabaeezamani recorded the Horns' second-best effort with her third place time of 17:54.1. Mojtabaeezamani was one of four Texas newcomers to place in the top 10. Freshman Julie Amthor was the fifth runner to complete the 3-mile race, clocking in at 18:08.8.

The next five runners to cross the finish line were all wearing burnt orange — junior Lau-ren Kern came in sixth (18.:11.1) followed by Behm, junior Allison Mendez (18:23.6), sopho-more Jessica Heath (18:27.9) and freshman Ginny Simon (18:30.1).

Up next for the Horns is the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station on Sept. 13.
