Broussard Engineers Lindale Blowout

WILLS POINT -- Lindale quarterback Matt Broussard scored on runs of 5, 24, 58 and 57 yards, all in the first half, to propel Lindale past Wills Point 48-0 on Friday night.

After jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on Broussard's first two TD runs, Lindale broke the game open with three TDs in less than three minutes to start the second quarter.

Quarterback Nathan Simmons found Will Kile for a 12-yard touchdown run with 11:20 to go in the first half. The Eagles then forced a three-and-out to get the ball back on their 42 yard-line.

Wills Point appeared to have stopped Lindale. But on fourth and 10, Broussard weaved through the Tiger defense for his 58-yard TD run.

Following a fumble by Marquis Burch on the kick off, Keandre Ross added a 24 yard touchdown run of his own 20 seconds later. The kick from James Crews pushed the score to 35-0 and the route was on.

Ross finished with a game-high 196 yards on 12 rushes. Broussard ate up 169 yards on just five carries to grab his four touchdowns. Lewis Battles rushed for 49 yards to lead the Tigers.

In the first half, the only thing that could stop Lindale was Lindale.

The Eagles threw one interception and fumbled twice - one in each half. The team did not punt all game.

Up 42-0 at half-time, Lindale pulled their foot off the gas and scored just six points in the second half. Crews nailed field goals in both the third (24) and fourth (20) quarters.

All told, Lindale dominated both sides of the ball. On offense, they racked up 487 total yards. On defense, the Eagles allowed 69 total yards.
