Weekend Should Gradually Warm Up
A sprawling high pressure ridge brought fair and comfortable weather to East Texas on Friday. A gradual warming trend is forecast through the weekend and into early next week with dry weather until the first upper air system arrives Monday afternoon. That could bring scattered showers to the region.
At late-week Thursday or Friday the mathematical forecasting models diverge dramatically.
The North American model is forecasting a stronger upper air system and cold front through the region next Thursday or Friday, with widespread showers and thunderstorms and significant cooling for late next week.
The mid-week period, according to this and the European Union and United Kingd-om/Meteorological Office models, should be seasonably warm with low-end shower chances.
Friday's temperatures in the region ran a couple of degrees lower than Thursday's and about 6 degrees below normal. Slight warming to near normal values is likely by Monday.
Low readings Friday morning were from near 60 in the north to near 70 in the southeast. 60-degree low temperatures are likely through Monday morning.
Afternoon highs were in the 80s, with high 80-degree readings likely Saturday, and near to slightly above 90 for Sunday and Monday.
