Tyler police reported earlier that they had arrested one man on aggravated robbery charges for allegedly stealing a cell phone at gunpoint.
Tyler Officer Doyle Lynch said Dramaine Rashad Green, 17, of Tyler was taken into custody on the warrant signed by State District Judge Jack Skeen Jr.
"Based on information received through Crime Stoppers, detectives with the Tyler Police Department were able to obtain an arrest warrant on this case," he said.
Green and an accomplice allegedly robbed a man of his cell phone while he was exiting his vehicle at the Meadow Brooks Apartments at 4600 Paluxy Drive two weeks ago.
"The victim told police that as he was getting out of his car, two black males approached him from behind with one grabbing his cell phone from his hand. The other suspect pointed a large semi-automatic handgun at him. The victim, who does not speak English, did not understand what the suspects were saying or wanted from him," Lynch said.
He added the two suspects fled running east through the complex and the victim was left unharmed.
Anyone with information about the suspects involved in this crime is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crime Stoppers, at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
Green remains in the Smith County Jail on a $250,000 bond set by Skeen.
