GLADEWATER -- After trading punches in the first quarter, Lindale landed some heavy combinations in the second quarter scoring 21 unanswered points on its way to a 50-21 thumping of Spring Hill Friday night in the Kickoff Classic at Jack V. Murphy -- Bear Stadium.
Lindale scored first on a 59-yard dash by running back Traevon Ray with 10:03 remaining in the first quarter.
With 6:15 remaining in the first, Spring Hill responded on a Jake Fudge seven-yard plunge to make it a one-point game after the missed extra-point try.
Matt Broussard struck for the Eagles on another long run, scoring from 40 yards out.
Spring Hill answered in what looked like a matchup that would end up being a scorefest for both teams.
However, the Eagles were responsible for the next three changes in the scoreboard during the second quarter.
Lindale added touchdowns on another Broussard run of six, a Ray run of nine and a 34-yard pass from Nathan Simmons to Will Kile.
Lindale continued the offensive show in the third adding another Ray run of 10 for a TD as well as a Keandre Ross run from six yards out.
Lindale put up staggering numbers on the night both on the ground and through the air, amassing 297 yards on the ground on 33 runs and 293 yards through the air for an astounding total of 590 yards.
Spring Hill will host White Oak Friday night, while Lindale will travel to Wills Point.
