Rusk KOA Kampground Holding Potjie Festival
RUSK -- The Rusk KOA Kampground will host the annual Potjie Festival today through Monday.

The festival is a gathering of people who practice potjie, a method of cooking using pots hung over campfires utilized by Dutch pioneers in South Africa, festival organizers said.

The festival, now in its eighth year, traditionally attracts about 300 participants.

"The participation grows each year as word spreads," said festival founder Yvonne Reinhardt in a prepared statement. "This is a wonderful way for those of us with South African heritage to re-connect with our traditions."

Prizes will be awarded for best dishes in several categories. The festival will also include an awards ceremony, recreational events and a Sunday religious service.
