District 19-2A Preview
Arp is definitely the favorite in District 19-2A, but Tigers coach Dale Irwin will not let his team take anything for granted.

"Our district is like a playoff game each week," Irwin said.

The Tigers feel the playoffs begin as soon as the district race begins.

Arp (10-4 a year ago) has the momentum from a very stellar season of 2007.

True, Sedrick Johnson is gone and the wide receiver was recently called the most heralded recruit in many years at Iowa State.

Johnson will be missed, but there's loads of talent in the Arp camp.

The list could be go on and on, but the Arp leaders are quarterback Will Allen (threw for 1,497 yards and 15 TDs last year) and LaVocheya Cooper (402 yards rushing, 12 TDs).

Defensively, linebacker Garrett Williams is back and then there's defensive ends Richard Bradley and Dejuan Lee.

Frankston, West Rusk and Troup should give the Tigers a run for their money.

Frankston, under new coach Sam Wells, look to make the playoffs again.

"This is a tough district with lots of tradtion," Wells said.

Leading the way is quarterback Bryan Blackwell, a two-year starter, and running back Ketrich Harmon.

"Ketrich has had a great career in high school and we feel he will have an even better year this season," Wells said.

Other key players for Frankston include offensive lineman Bo Walker, outside linebacker Jacob Birch, cornerback Stephen Forson and middle linebacker Dalton Severn.

The district should be exciting and could very likely come down to the final game.
