Overton has a new coach in Ty Robinson, who comes from a successful coaching family. Robinson's father, Wendell, led the Lindale High School football program from 1977-83. Wendell finished his career with more than 220 victories.

Ty, who has been a defensive coordinator at Jasper and Carthage, has middle linebacker John Michael Florey to anchor his Overton defense. Other leaders on defense will be linebacker Scott Osborn, safety Casey Rinehart and cornerback Draze Kennedy.

Offensively, Robinson has shifted his personnel to different positions in a multiple scheme that has quick passes mixed with a little wing-T.

"I think it all starts with the quarterback (Telvin Darden)," Robinson said. "He's extremely agile. He's a good runner and passer. We have four capable running backs."

The senior runner is Jacoba Gardner, one of the top contributors on last year's team.
