Aug. 25: Would Be Disservice
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Surely the Dallas ISD had their tongues in their cheeks when they ruled that homework could only be graded unless it raised the student’s grade, that students can retake a failed exam and receive the higher grade, that it would be questionable if overdue homework would receive a penalty and that parents and teachers would have to help students finish their assignments.

How can children learn to plan, to produce their work on time, or to learn accountability unless they are held responsible for their own work?

It would be a great disservice to our children to implement these rules in Tyler....but, happily, the local school system seems to have too much common sense for that.

Your question deserves a huge NO!
