Campus Notepad: TISD Getting Back To School On Monday
Monday marks the first day of school for the Tyler Independent School District.

Tyler ISD elementary schools begin the day at 8 a.m. and end at 3 p.m., while middle schools start at 8:40 a.m. and conclude at 3:40 p.m. and high school times are 8:55 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.


Bell
Bell Elementary School will have a "Boohoo Breakfast" for kindergarten parents from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. Monday in the library.

Bell will have a PTA general conference from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria for parents of kindergarten through second graders. Parents and students are invited to visit the school and classrooms.


Clarkston
Clarkston Elementary School will have a "Boohoo Breakfast" from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Monday in the cafeteria. Parents of Headstart and kindergarten students are invited to meet key Clarkston staff members and other parents. After parents take their student to the classroom they are invited to the cafeteria for coffee and donuts.


Jack
Jack Elementary will have a playground ribbon cutting from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday.

The playground will be used by the second through fifth graders. The construction of the playground was made possible through PTA fund raisers and donations from local businesses.


Owens
Owens Elementary will have a "Boohoo Breakfast" for kindergarten parents from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Monday in the library.


Lee
Representatives from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas Tech and Texas A&M universities will provide information and answer questions from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Robert E. Lee High School's West Cafeteria.

Those interested in these universities are welcome to attend. The Texas trio, UT Austin, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, will be available to talk with parents and students about scholarships and the admissions process.Ã?Â

Lee will also have a Back to School Bash from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. All school-sponsored clubs and organizations will be set up with tables for students and parents to drop by and learn more about the specific organizations.Ã? From 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Football Mom's Club will conclude the evening with hamburgers at the practice field.Ã? Tickets for the bash are $4 and may be purchased at the door.Ã?Â


All Saints
An All Saints Episcopal School Odyssey of the Mind coaches meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium.

All Saints sixth graders will go to Sky Ranch on Friday for a day of "team building" experiences.

The Parent Association Homeroom Mom meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday.

Chapel services will begin this week at All Saints. The schedule is as follows:� Monday - primer, first and second grades at 8:15 a.m.; Tuesday - 4K & 5K at 8:30 a.m.; Wednesday - fifth and sixth at 8:15 a.m.; Friday - third and fourth grades at 8:15 a.m.

Chess lessons are available on campus each Monday.� Children in 5K may take chess from 2 to 2:45 p.m. each Monday. Primer through third graders may take chess lessons from 3 to 3:45 p.m. each Monday, and students in grades fourth through sixth grades may take chess lessons from 4 to 4:45 p.m. each Monday.� The cost is $150 for an entire year of instruction and this tuition includes membership in the U.S. Chess Federation.

Back to School Night at All Saints is Sept. 8.


Gorman
Parents and guardians are invited to attend Bishop T.K. Gorman Catholic School's Parent Open House.� The program will begin at 6 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria. After a brief introduction, parents or guardians will follow their child's schedule, meeting each of the teachers and be able to review class grading policies, procedures and the syllabus.

Fall portraits will be taken from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday. All grade levels will be photographed. Students should wear regular school uniforms.

The opening of Gorman will be celebrated on Sept. 2, 50 years to the day of the opening of the school, with a 50th Anniversary Mass celebrated by Bishop Corrada at 9:50 a.m. in Haddad Gym. All are invited to attend.� There is a special invitation to Gorman alumni, former students, former staff and parents or grandparents.

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, parents, students, alumni, guardians, staff and friends of Gorman are invited to prayer and participation in "Fifty Hours of Adoration" in the Gorman Chapel.� Adoration will begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 2 and conclude at 1 p.m. Sept. 4.� Please call or e-mail Beth Scirot to sign up for an hour time slot:� 903-561-2424 or bscirto@tkgorman.net.


Grace
Grace Community School will have a "Moms in Touch" prayer meeting from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday in room 202B of the elementary campus.

On Monday and Tuesday, there are class meetings for parents of all elementary grades. Visit www.gracetyler.org for your class and time.

At the upper campus of Grace, Wednesday will be junior high and high school picture day.
