Two Wood County men are in jail after being charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Wood County Sgt. Investigator Terry Bevill arrested Gaylor Stiner, Jr., 38 of Mineola and Jason English, 43, of Alba earlier this week after the 50-year-old male victim and at least two other witnesses identified the two as the men who grabbed the victim from a vending area along the side of a road in Alba and placed him in a pickup truck.

Stiner’s bond was set at $110,000 and English’s bond was set at $100,000.

According to Wood County Sheriff's reports, at about noon on Aug. 10 the victim was setting up picnic tables for sale. Stiner and English allegedly grabbed him and took him to a wooded area south of Alba, off U.S. Highway 69. The victim was beaten and had allegedly been threatened with a knife.

The victim later left the scene of the assault and was found injured in the 800 block of County Road 1681. He was transported to East Texas Medical Center. Chief Deputy Debbie Foster said the victim has since been released from the hospital.

Foster said it is unknown why he was the target of the assault. She said an investigation is ongoing.
