Aug. 19: Good Folks
ROSES: Send many, many roses to the residents of Bullard and specifically, the customers of Happy Donuts.
Although I have lived in Bullard for 10 years, until four months ago, when I went to work at Happy Donuts, I really and no idea how truly special living and working in a small town could be or how truly exceptional the folks that make up this town are.
On a daily basis I’ve been blessed by the kind words, smiles and laughter shared between the people I consider my “regulars” and myself. I found that, if for some reason, one of my “regulars” went several days without coming by I was concerned for their health or well being.

It may sound silly, but that little job taught me so much about caring for others that the ridiculous hours, days and rate of pay for which I worked mattered very little. My real reward and compensation came from caring for, and truly being appreciated and cared for in return, by the wonderful men, women and children of Bullard.
Although I’ve had to leave this job due to a broken arm – courtesy of a slippery trash bag in my bedroom floor — I know that as soon as I’m able, I’ll be looking for another job in Bullard that allows me to serve these folks who I’ve grown to know.
