Tyler's Quevedo Earns Spot in Semifinals
Tyler's Marisa Quevedo of Tyler captured two wins on Sunday to advance to the semifinals of the Girls 12 Singles division in the Bob Faulkner Junior Major Zone Tennis Tournament.

Quevedo, the fifth seed, will play No. 1 seed Caroline Turner of Frisco at 8 a.m. today at Tyler Tennis & Swim Club.

The other semifinal has No. 3 seed Kaylin Kruseman of Houston meeting Elena Muller of Dallas.

The winners advance to the championship match, which is scheduled for noon today.

Semifinal matches in each division are scheduled for 8 a.m. today at TT&SC.

All finals are scheduled for noon today, also at Tyler Tennis & Swim Club.

Quevedo won over Kati Mdzinarishvili of Amarillo (6-3, 6-3) in the Round of 16 and then defeated No. 4 seed Maggie O'Meara of Lakeway in the quarterfinals, 6-4, 6-1.

Quevedo and her doubles partner Sydney Riley of Rowlett advanced to the championship match of the Girls 12 Doubles. They fell in the final to Kruseman and Cassandra Vazquez of Houston, 8-4.

In boys 14 A Singles, Gilmer's Jacob Herndon, the No. 9 seed, lost in the Round of 16 to No. 5 seed Gonzalo of McAllen, 6-3, 6-2.
