RANT: In poker, there’s a saying, “Looking down your throat.” It means that the speaker knows what the other has or is going to do.

When President George Bush said he was “Looking into his soul,” was it not Russia’s Mr. Putin he was talking about?

Now, there’s the poker term. Is this not what Putin had in mind? He went right on with the old Soviet ways and intentions after having visited with President Bush at the Crawford Ranch.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Russia rebuilds Georgia as the United States is rebuilding Iraq or will it be as the United States is rebuilding Afghanistan?

Oil-rich Iraq and a large oil pipeline across Georgia. And Afghanistan?

Not much is being said about the rebuilding of Afghanistan. But then, not much is said about Afghanistan’s oil or oil pipelines.
