Aug. 18: The Wrong Thing
The EPA did the wrong thing when Texas was denied a request to cut the ethanol mandate. Bear in mind, the EPA is an independent agency created by our brainless Congress. They answer to no one, seems to me, and go about the countryside levying fines on corporations and businesses and individuals and these businesses, etc., cave in to the EPA’s demands and pay heavy fines without due process in order to save themselves from financial destruction brought about by the EPA. This agency is controlled by the environmentalists, whoever they are, and in turn by the Democrats. The ethanol mfg. get subsidies and so do the farmers who raise corn. There is a 51 cent tariff on ethanol imported from Brazil so as to punish those who want to import and compete.
Finally, we know this ethanol does not stand up to its promise. It is costly to produce, more costly than the energy expended to do so. Additionally it does not offer fuel savings, in fact cars that run strictly on ethanol get much less fuel economy.
In addition it has to be transported by truck so that makes in more costly cause all the plants are in the corn belt and lastly, our cars are not made to burn this fuel and we know not what it is doing to our engines and fuel systems. And when it all turns out to be hogwash, to whom do we turn for help, the government?
