August 13: Direction Important
Larry M. Pilgrim's comparison (Letters, Aug. 8) of Obama and McCain was very impressive.
He stated undisputable facts such as higher accomplishments in education, better recall, and more eloquent.
However, our judgment should be on who would lead America in the right direction. McCain is against gay marriage, raising taxes, citizenship for illegal immigrants and continued pork barrel spending. Not to mention national health care, which is leading to socialism.
When praising Obama's good qualities, his actions must also be considered. He flip-flops, depending on which audience he is addressing.
Those who are won over by Obama's smooth speech should look at the change he advocates. As some wise man once said the road to ... is paved with gold.
