Tyler A&M Mothers' Club to Host Howdy Dinner
The Tyler A&M Mother's Club is scheduled to host its annual Howdy Dinner for all students and their families who plan to attend Texas A&M University in the fall, Publicity Chairman Juliee Denman said.

The dinner is set for 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 Copeland Road, Tyler.

"Incoming freshmen, transfer and returning students, including their families, will have the opportunity to meet each other and obtain information about university life at Texas A&M. The 2008-2009 scholarship recipients will also be recognized," Ms. Denman said.

Reservations for dinner are not required, and the event is free of charge. Each family is to bring a 2-liter drink and food according to their last name: A-L - salad; M-S - dessert; T-Z - vegetable.

Aggie Mom's Clubs have been a tradition at Texas A&M since 1922. The purpose of the nonprofit organization is to support the students, learn more about TAMU and its traditions, build friendships with other moms, and raise money for student scholarships.

"This past year the Tyler club awarded over $10,000 in scholarships," Ms. Denman said.

Aggie Dads are also welcome, she said.
