August 10: A BEAUTIFUL ANGEL
ROSES: I met an angel and I am sending her a huge bouquet of thornless red roses.
My husband and I went grocery-shopping early one morning to avoid the heat. As we were heading toward the check-out counter, I began to feel tired and dizzy.
My husband suggested I go sit in the car under the air conditioner. "I'll be right there," he told me. I walked to the car OK, feeling like I might faint any moment. I repeatedly pushed the "open" button on the key chain and nothing happened. I couldn't get the car door open. I felt weaker and dizzier. I leaned heavily on the side of the car. Then I heard a voice near me, "Do you have a problem? Can I help you?"
"Oh, yes," I replied. "Can you please open the car door for me?" I handed her the keys, and she immediately punched the "open" button. There was a click which I had been too weak to activate, and she pulled the door open, helping me collapse into the front passenger seat. She returned the keys, then stood beside my open door until the cool air revived me.
I remember a kind face, a soft-flowing garment and a determination to make things right. She left me just before my husband arrived with the groceries. I never learned her name. I hope she reads this letter and accepts my gratitude.
She's probably doing a kind deed at his very moment, having earned her wings for a lifetime of helping others, including one dizzy mortal.
