Kyle Lake Foundation Memorial Soccer Camp
Approximately 115 youth are registered and are attending the 2008 Kyle Lake Foundation Memorial Soccer Camp which began Monday at the South Campus of the First Baptist Church, located at FM 2813.
The soccer camp is for girl and boy soccer players from first grade through ninth grade and is being sponsored jointly by Chris Woodard, camp director, and the Foundation.
Players from as far away as Little Rock, Ark., are being instructed in basic and advanced skills by an staff of licensed coaches including Rich Brands, men's coach at Robert E. Lee High School, Joe Carden, former player for the U.S. Naval Academy, Trey Carlile, former ETBU women's coach, David Collins, former ETBU head coach and current Brook Hill School head soccer coach, and Woodard, who is presently the head men's and women's soccer coach at Lon Morris College and head girls soccer coach at Robert E. Lee High School. There are approximately 20 volunteers who are present and past players from area schools assisting the coaching staff.
The camp, which is being hosted by First Baptist Church, will conclude Friday, and has been designed to develop boys' and girls' individual skills while implementing tactical lessons. To help accomplish this, the players are divided by age and skill levels and placed in small groups at various stations on the playing fields.
